The Data Center Technical Coordinator installs, relocates, and/or de-commissions hardware including cabinets, shelves, power strips, rails, cable management, servers, storage, printers, and other devices in the data center.

In addition, this position responds to trouble situations within the Data Center, provides "Remote Hands" assistance as requested by other IT groups and/or third-party business partners, and helps coordinate upgrades, configuration maintenance, and repairs of system hardware.

Some additional key activities include confirming and labeling all devices including all cross connects (cat5, coax, fiber) in the Data Center; creating and maintaining documentation that describes the location and use of all equipment in the Data Center; collaborating with Data Center Operations, Network Operations, and Systems Administrators to effectively plan the capacity requirements of computing resources in the Data Center.

This position also requires the ability to adapt to temporary shift schedule changes required to deal with absences of other personnel and off-hours installations and migrations; the ability to manage and track all assets in the data center and the ability to manage third party vendors to ensure compliance with change control, security, specifications, and quality standards, and chaperone vendors and guests as necessary.
By the end of the 6 months opportunity, the candidate should be able to:
  • Ability to process service requests that get assigned to the Data Center Engineering Group
  • Proactively work on Data Center activities in support of providing sustainability and reliability
  • Work with Infrastructure/ITS groups, IT Partners, and External Vendors in troubleshooting and maintaining Data Center computing and infrastructure
